Friday Night Concerts at the Orchard Town Center

We have a great outdoor shopping mall that opened up recently near us. During the summer they have free concerts with local bands on Friday nights. Last Friday night was the first concert of the summer, the Hazel Miller Band. I've loved Hazel Miller for about the past 10 years, so I was excited that she was playing! She is so talented and has an amazing voice. She sings some jazz, standards, funk, gospel, a little Motown... It was a great night to just hang out and listen to some great tunes and enjoy the summer evening. I'm looking forward to lots of these this summer!

Summertime at the Zoo

Gran Gran gave us a Zoo membership, so I anticipate lots of trips this summer! This was our first one of the summer break.

While we were there, we found out that our friend Amanda was there with Alek, Reagan, and Brinlee, who she is nannying for this summer. Alek and Brinlee are in Riley's class, and Reagan is in Carter's class. We met up with them and took a ride on the train!

We went into the Lorikeet Adventure to feed the lorikeets some nectar. They are really cool looking little birds. They are like big parakeets, and are very colorful. They look like little flying rainbows.

On the way out, Riley decorated an elephant at the future site of the new pachyderm exhibit.

Second Annual Marsh/Evans/Asnicar zoo trip!

We headed to the zoo for another wild adventure with the Evans and Asnicar families! Last year we had the wagon train, but this year they were too big to do that! It was a little bit like herding cats, but they had a blast!

There always seem to be baby giraffes at the zoo...

There are lots of peacocks running around the zoo. They like to lurk around the picnic areas. This guy was showing off for a crowd of people.

I couldn't help myself....they're building a new pachyderm exhibit called "Asian Tropics." I got your Asian Tropics right here!

Checking out the pachyderm show. This is the cutest picture. It's hard to believe they're all so big, I remember them all being in the Little Sprouts class together when they were 5-6 months old!

Little Dragons Yellow Belt!

In February Riley started TaeKwonDo. He's in the "Little Dragons" program for 4-6 year olds. We have been so pleased with everything that he has done! Master Michael is wonderful with the kids, and works on everything from fitness to teamwork to coordination and respect with them. Riley tested for his Yellow Belt a few weeks ago...
